'Outcast' in the Bible
When you cultivate the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength [it will resist producing good crops] for you; you shall be a fugitive and a vagabond [roaming aimlessly] on the earth [in perpetual exile without a home, a degraded outcast].”
For we will certainly die and are like water that is spilled on the ground and cannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not [simply] take away life, but devises plans so that the one who is banished is not driven away from Him.
‘For I will restore health to youAnd I will heal your wounds,’ says the Lord,‘Because they have called you an outcast, saying:“This is Zion; no one seeks her and no one cares for her.”’
Remember [O Lord] my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall (bitterness).
Now when [Simon] the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, “If this Man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching Him, that she is a [notorious] sinner [an outcast, devoted to sin].”
