'Reared' in the Bible

Listen, O heavens, and hear, O earth;For the Lord speaks,“Sons I have reared and brought up,But they have revolted against Me.

Be ashamed, O Sidon;For the sea speaks, the stronghold of the sea, saying,“I have neither travailed nor given birth,I have neither brought up young men nor reared virgins.”

“Then you will say in your heart,‘Who has begotten these for me,Since I have been bereaved of my childrenAnd am barren, an exile and a wanderer?And who has reared these?Behold, I was left alone;From where did these come?’”

There is none to guide her among all the sons she has borne,Nor is there one to take her by the hand among all the sons she has reared.
