'Rescued' in the Bible
At that time those who live on this coast will say, 'Look what has happened to our source of hope to whom we fled for help, expecting to be rescued from the king of Assyria! How can we escape now?'"
Hezekiah is misleading you when he says, "The Lord will rescue us." Has any of the gods of the nations rescued his land from the power of the king of Assyria?
Who among all the gods of these lands have rescued their lands from my power? So how can the Lord rescue Jerusalem from my power?'"
Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries: they completely destroyed them. Will you be rescued?
Were the nations whom my predecessors destroyed -- the nations of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden in Telassar -- rescued by their gods?
"Can they seize plunder from warriors, or can the captives of tyrants be rescued?
But this is what the LORD says: "He will seize even the warriors' plunder, and the captives of tyrants will be rescued. I myself will quarrel with those who have a quarrel with you, and I myself will save your children.
