'Sakes' in the Bible
The Lord was angry with me also because of you, saying, ‘Not even you shall enter Canaan.
He allowed no man to oppress or exploit them,And, He reproved and punished kings for their sakes, saying,
He allowed no man to oppress them;He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying,
They provoked Him to anger at the waters of Meribah,So that it went hard with Moses on their account;
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for My holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went.
Then I will rebuke the devourer (insects, plague) for your sake and he will not destroy the fruits of the ground, nor will your vine in the field drop its grapes [before harvest],” says the Lord of hosts.
