'Sheath' in the Bible
David ran and stood over him. He grabbed the Philistine’s sword, pulled it from its sheath, and used it to kill him. Then he cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they ran.
They were at the great stone in Gibeon when Amasa joined them. Joab was wearing his uniform and over it was a belt around his waist with a sword in its sheath. As he approached, the sword fell out.
Then the Lord spoke to the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.
and say to it: This is what the Lord says: I am against you. I will draw My sword from its sheath and cut off both the righteous and the wicked from you.
Since I will cut off both the righteous and the wicked, My sword will therefore come out of its sheath against everyone from the south to the north.
So all the people will know that I, Yahweh, have taken My sword from its sheath—it will not be sheathed again.
Return it to its sheath!I will judge youin the place where you were created,in the land of your origin.
You took the sheath from Your bow;the arrows are ready to be used with an oath.SelahYou split the earth with rivers.
