'Short' in the Bible

But they have no root in themselves; they are short-lived. When pressure or persecution comes because of the word, they immediately stumble.

And he said to them, "You yourselves come privately to an isolated place and rest for a short time." For those [who were] coming and going were many, and they did not even have time to eat.

and if the Lord had not cut short those days, no flesh should have been saved; but on account of the elect whom he has chosen, he has cut short those days.
