'Suppress' in the Bible
‘When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress or mistreat him.
And now you intend to subjugate the people of Judah and Jerusalem as male and female slaves for yourselves. But are you yourselves not guilty of transgressions against the Lord your God?
in order to turn a person from his actionsand suppress his pride.
If we let Him go on like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our [holy] place (the temple) and our nation.”
For God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against all godlessness and unrighteousness of people who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth,
Do not quench [subdue, or be unresponsive to the working and guidance of] the [Holy] Spirit.
For they deliberately suppress this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago and an earth was formed out of water and by means of water.
