'Surpassed' in the Bible

(John testified concerning Him and exclaimed,“This was the One of whom I said,‘The One coming after me has surpassed me,because He existed before me.’”)

This is the One I told you about: ‘After me comes a man who has surpassed me, because He existed before me.’

But the Law came to increase and expand [the awareness of] the trespass [by defining and unmasking sin]. But where sin increased, [God’s remarkable, gracious gift of] grace [His unmerited favor] has surpassed it and increased all the more,

In fact, that which once had glory lost its glory, because the other glory surpassed it.
