'Darling' in the Bible
These [are] the last words of David, the declaration of David the son of Jesse, and the declaration of the man exalted [by] the Most High, the anointed one of the God of Jacob and the darling of the songs of Israel.
Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
I compare you, my darling,to a mare among Pharaoh’s chariots.
M How beautiful you are, my darling. How very beautiful!Your eyes are doves.
M Like a lily among thorns,so is my darling among the young women.
My love calls to me:M Arise, my darling.Come away, my beautiful one.
The fig tree ripens its figs;the blossoming vines give off their fragrance.Arise, my darling.Come away, my beautiful one.
M How beautiful you are, my darling. How very beautiful!Behind your veil, your eyes are doves.Your hair is like a flock of goatsstreaming down Mount Gilead.
You are absolutely beautiful, my darling, with no imperfection in you.
W I sleep, but my heart is awake.A sound! My love is knocking!M Open to me, my sister, my darling,my dove, my perfect one.For my head is drenched with dew,my hair with droplets of the night.
M You are as beautiful as Tirzah, my darling, lovely as Jerusalem,awe-inspiring as an army with banners.
"Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? Indeed, as often as I've spoken about him, I surely still remember him. Therefore I deeply yearn for him. I'll surely have great compassion on him," declares the LORD.
He will not pay respect to the gods of his ancestors, or to [the] darling of women, and not to any god will he pay respect, for he will consider himself great over all [gods].
