'Houses' in the Bible
When I saw their fear, I rose and spoke to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people: “Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives and your houses.”
There were others who said, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our houses that we might get grain because of the famine.”
Please, give back to them this very day their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money and of the grain, the new wine and the oil that you are exacting from them.”
Now the city was large and spacious, but the people in it were few and the houses were not built.
These were they who came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon and Immer; but they could not show their fathers’ houses or their descendants, whether they were of Israel:
“They captured fortified cities and a fertile land. They took possession of houses full of every good thing,Hewn cisterns, vineyards, olive groves,Fruit trees in abundance. So they ate, were filled and grew fat,And reveled in Your great goodness.
