'Influence' in the Bible
“Your wickedness affects only a man such as you,And your righteousness affects only a son of man [but it cannot affect God, who is sovereign].
By the blessing [of the influence] of the upright the city is exalted,But by the mouth of the wicked it is torn down.
Your [drunken] eyes will see strange thingsAnd your mind will utter perverse things [untrue things, twisted things].
“O vines of Sibmah, I will weep for youMore than the weeping of Jazer [over its ruins and wasted vineyards].Your tendrils [of influence] stretched across the sea,Reaching [even] to the sea of Jazer. The destroyer has fallenOn your summer fruits and your [season’s] crop of grapes.

Because of this God will send upon them a misleading influence, [an activity of error and deception] so they will believe the lie,
