'Investigated' in the Bible
Then Herod, when he realized that he had been tricked by the magi, was extremely angry, and he sent [soldiers] and put to death all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that area who were two years old and under, according to the date which he had learned from the magi.
It also seemed good to me, since I have carefully investigated everything from the very first, to write to you in an orderly sequence, most honorable Theophilus,
These men must first be tested; then if they are found to be blameless and beyond reproach [in their Christian lives], let them serve as deacons.
Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that would come to you searched and carefully investigated.
