'Letting' in the Bible
and the disciples having taken him, by night did let him down by the wall, letting down in a basket.
And the ship being caught and driven, and not able to bring her head to the wind, letting her go we were driven before it.
After the crew had hoisted it aboard, they used supports to undergird the ship. Fearing they would run aground on the Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor, thus letting themselves be driven along.
Then the sailors made attempts secretly to get away from the ship, letting down a boat as if they were about to put down hooks from the front of the ship;
So cutting away the hooks, and letting them go into the sea, and freeing the cords of the guiding-blades, and lifting up the sail to the wind, they went in the direction of the inlet.
