'Looked' in the Bible

The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the children of menTo see if there are any who understand (act wisely),Who [truly] seek after God, [longing for His wisdom and guidance].

They looked to Him and were radiant;Their faces will never blush in shame or confusion.

They saw it, then they were amazed;They were stricken with terror, they fled in alarm.

God has looked down from heaven upon the children of menTo see if there is anyone who understands,Who seeks after God [who requires Him, who longs for Him as essential to life].

For He has rescued me from every trouble,And my eye has looked with satisfaction (triumph) on my enemies.

So I have gazed upon You in the sanctuary,To see Your power and Your glory.

Reproach and insults have broken my heart and I am so sick.I looked for sympathy, but there was none,And for comforters, but I found none.

For He looked down from His holy height [of His sanctuary],From heaven the Lord gazed on the earth,

The [Red] Sea looked and fled;The Jordan turned back.
