'Poor' in the Bible

For the music director; a psalm of David. How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly! When trouble comes, the Lord delivers him.

Pay attention, all you people, both rich and poor!

He will defend the oppressed among the people; he will deliver the children of the poor and crush the oppressor.

He will take pity on the poor and needy; the lives of the needy he will save.

Do not let the afflicted be turned back in shame! Let the oppressed and poor praise your name!

Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering!

Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked!

He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile,

I will abundantly supply what she needs; I will give her poor all the food they need.

I know that the Lord defends the cause of the oppressed and vindicates the poor.
