'Refrain' in the Bible

If a word were essayed to thee, wouldest thou be grieved? But who can refrain from speaking?

Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

"Refrain from talking with me so that I may speak; then let come to me what may.

"But if I speak, my pain isn't assuaged; if I refrain from speaking, what do I have to lose?"

Nobles would refrain from speaking, covering their mouths with their hands.

They abhor me they keep their distance from me; but they don't refrain from spitting at the sight of me.
