'Sheep' in the Bible
You have made us like sheep to be eaten [as mutton]And have scattered us [in exile] among the nations.
But for Your sake we are killed all the day long;We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead);Death will be their shepherd;And the upright shall rule over them in the morning,And their form and beauty shall be for Sheol to consume,So that they have no dwelling [on earth].
O God, why have You rejected us forever?Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?
But God led His own people forward like sheepAnd guided them in the wilderness like [a good shepherd with] a flock.
So we Your people, the sheep of Your pasture,Will give You thanks forever;We will declare and publish Your praise from generation to generation.
For He is our GodAnd we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.Today, if you will hear His voice,
Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God;It is He who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His].We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
I have gone astray like a lost sheep;Seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commandments.
Let our barns be full, supplying every kind of produce,And our flocks bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields;
