'Shut' in the Bible
Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered just as God had commanded him. Then the Lord shut him in.
Lot went out to them at the entrance and shut the door behind him.
But the angels reached out, brought Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.
The men pursued them along the road to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as they left to pursue them, the gate was shut.
They told him, “Be quiet. Keep your mouth shut. Come with us and be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be a priest for the house of one person or for you to be a priest for a tribe and family in Israel?”
When the skies are shut and there is no rain,because they have sinned against You,and they pray toward this placeand praise Your name,and they turn from their sinsbecause You are afflicting them,
Then go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour oil into all these containers. Set the full ones to one side.”
So she left.After she had shut the door behind her and her sons, they kept bringing her containers, and she kept pouring.
Then she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut him in, and left.
Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a man ahead of him, but before the messenger got to him, Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this murderer has sent someone to cut off my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door to keep him out. Isn’t the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”

Then Ahaz gathered up the utensils of God’s temple, cut them into pieces, shut the doors of the Lord’s temple, and made himself altars on every street corner in Jerusalem.
I went to the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabel, who was restricted to his house. He said:Let us meet at the house of Godinside the temple.Let us shut the temple doorsbecause they are coming to kill you.They are coming to kill you tonight!

But the king will rejoice in God;all who swear by Him will boast,for the mouths of liars will be shut.
You have distanced my friends from me;You have made me repulsive to them.I am shut in and cannot go out.
the doors at the street are shutwhile the sound of the mill fades;when one rises at the sound of a bird,and all the daughters of song grow faint.
For the Lord has poured out on youan overwhelming urge to sleep;He has shut your eyes—the prophets,and covered your heads—the seers.
Such people do not comprehendand cannot understand,for He has shut their eyes so they cannot see,and their minds so they cannot understand.
The Lord says this to Cyrus, His anointed,whose right hand I have graspedto subdue nations before him,to disarm kings,to open the doors before himand the gates will not be shut:
so He will sprinkle many nations.Kings will shut their mouths because of Him,For they will see what had not been told them,and they will understand what they had not heard. >
Your gates will always be open;they will never be shut day or nightso that the wealth of the nationsmay be brought into you,with their kings being led in procession.
If I say, “I won’t mention Himor speak any longer in His name,”His message becomes a fire burning in my heart,shut up in my bones.I become tired of holding it in,and I cannot prevail.
The Spirit entered me and set me on my feet. He spoke with me and said: “Go, shut yourself inside your house.
My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths. They haven’t hurt me, for I was found innocent before Him. Also, I have not committed a crime against you my king.”
“I wish one of you would shut the temple doors, so you would no longer kindle a useless fire on My altar! I am not pleased with you,” says the Lord of Hosts, “and I will accept no offering from your hands.
