'Sir' in the Bible
"Listen, sir, you are a mighty prince among us! You may bury your dead in the choicest of our tombs. None of us will refuse you his tomb to prevent you from burying your dead."
She said, "You really are being kind to me, sir, for you have reassured and encouraged me, your servant, even though I am not one of your servants!"
Then Daniel (whose name is also Belteshazzar) was upset for a brief time; his thoughts were alarming him. The king said, "Belteshazzar, don't let the dream and its interpretation alarm you." He said to me, "Don't be afraid, you who are valued. Peace be to you! Be strong! Be really strong!" When he spoke to me, I was strengthened. I said, "Sir, you may speak now, for you have given me strength."
I heard, but I did not understand. So I said, "Sir, what will happen after these things?"
Then I asked one nearby, "What are these, sir?" The angelic messenger who replied to me said, "I will show you what these are."
Then I asked the messenger who spoke with me, "What are these, sir?"
He replied, "Don't you know what these are?" So I responded, "No, sir."
He replied, "Don't you know what these are?" And I said, "No, sir."
Then I asked the angelic messenger who was speaking with me, "What are these, sir?"
