Then he arose, and took the child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt; and was there unto the death of Herod: to fulfill that which was spoken of the Lord by the Prophet, which sayeth, "Out of Egypt have I called my son."read more.
Then Herod, perceiving that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, as many as were two years old and under according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by the Prophet Jeremiah, saying, "On the hills was a voice heard, mourning, weeping and great lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they were not." And there appeared a great wonder in heaven. A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars. And she was with child and cried, travailing in birth, and pained ready to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven, for behold a great red dragon, having seven heads, and ten horns, and seven crowns on his heads:read more.
and his tail drew the third part of the stars, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman, which was ready to be delivered: for to devour her child as soon as it were born. And she brought forth a man child, which should rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her son was taken up unto God, and to his seat.

And immediately the spirit drove him into a wilderness: and he was there in the wilderness forty days, and was tempted of Satan, and was with wild beasts. And the angels ministered unto him.

Then was Jesus led away of the spirit into wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward a hungered. Then came to him the tempter, and said, "If thou be the son of God, command that these stones be made bread."read more.
He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, 'He shall give his angels charge over thee: and with their hands they shall hold thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.'" And Jesus said to him, "It is written also, 'Thou shalt not tempt thy Lord God.'" The devil took him up again and led him into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and all the glory of them; and said to him, "All these will I give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me." Then said Jesus unto him, "Depart, Satan: For it is written, 'Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve.'" Then the devil left him, and, Behold, the angels came and ministered unto him.

Jesus then full of the holy ghost, returned from Jordan, and was carried of the spirit into a wilderness, and was forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days ate he nothing: And when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, command this stone that it be bread."read more.
And Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread only, but by every word of God.'" And the devil took him up into a high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, even in the twinkling of an eye. And the devil said unto him, "All this power will I give thee every whit, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whosoever I will I give it: If thou therefore wilt worship me, they shall be all thine." Jesus answered him, and said, "Hence from me, Satan. For it is written, 'Thou shalt honour the Lord thy God, and him only serve.'" And he carried him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down from hence. For it is written, 'He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee, and with their hands they shall stay thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.'" Jesus answered and said to him, "It is said, 'Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'" And as soon as the devil had ended all his temptations, he departed from him for a season.

Moreover, I will put hatred between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed. And that seed shall tread thee on the head, and thou shalt tread it on the heel."

But Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him saying, "Master, favor thyself, this shall not come unto thee." Then turned he about, and said unto Peter, "Come after me, Satan: thou offendest me, because thou savourest not Godly things, but worldly things."

Then entered Satan into Judas, whose surname was Iscariot, which was of the number of the twelve:

When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in the spirit, and testified saying, "Verily, verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me." And then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. There was one of his disciples which leaned on Jesus' bosom, whom Jesus loved.read more.
To him beckoned Simon Peter that he should ask who it was of whom he spake. He then, as he leaned on Jesus' breast, said unto him, "Lord who is it?" Jesus answered, "He it is to whom I give a sop, when I have dipped it." And he wet a sop, and gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon's son. And after the sop, Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, "That thou dost, do quickly."

Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

And the Pharisees departed, and straightway gathered a counsel, with them that belonged to Herod, against him: that they might destroy him.

And they were filled full of madness, and communed one with another, what they might do to Jesus.

The kings of the earth stood up and the rulers came together against the LORD, and against his Christ.

He was despised and cast out of men's company; and one that had suffered sorrow, and had experience of infirmity. And we were as one that had hid his face from him.

when the morning was come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people held a counsel against Jesus, to put him to death,

Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, not only because he had broken the Sabbath: but said also that God was his father and made himself equal with God.

After that Jesus went about into Galilee, and would not go about in Jewry, for the Jews sought to kill him.

From that day forth they held a counsel together for to put him to death.

For hereunto verily were ye called, for Christ also suffered for us: leaving us an example that ye should follow his steps, which did no sin, neither was there guile found in his mouth: which when he was reviled, reviled not again: when he suffered, he threatened not: but committed the cause to him that judgeth righteously,read more.
which his own self bare our sins in his body on the tree, that we should be delivered from sin and should live in righteousness. By whose stripes ye were healed.

Even that the saying might be fulfilled that is written in their law, 'They hated me without a cause.'

O let not them that are mine enemies triumph over me ungodly; neither let them wink with their eyes, that hate me without a cause.

They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; they that are mine enemies, and would destroy me guiltless, are mighty. I paid them the things that I never took.

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, and said, "What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you?" And they appointed unto him thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

Simon of Canaan, and Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him.

for the son shall put his father to dishonour, the daughter shall rise against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: and a man's foes shall be even they of his own household.

And as they did eat, he said, "Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me." And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, "Is it I, master?" He answered and said, "He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.read more.
The son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the son of man shall be betrayed. It had been good for that man, if he had never been born." Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, "Is it I, master?" He said unto him, "Thou hast said."

He then, as he leaned on Jesus' breast, said unto him, "Lord who is it?" Jesus answered, "He it is to whom I give a sop, when I have dipped it." And he wet a sop, and gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon's son. And after the sop, Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, "That thou dost, do quickly."

him have ye taken by the hands of unrighteous persons, after he was delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, and have crucified and slain him whom God hath raised up:

Pilate said unto them, "What shall I do then with Jesus, which is called Christ?" They all said to him, "Let him be crucified."

And anon in the dawning held the high priests a council with the elders and the scribes; And also the whole congregation, and bound Jesus and led him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas into the hall of judgment. It was in the morning, and they themselves went not into the judgment hall lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the paschal lamb. Pilate then went out unto them and said, "What accusation bring ye against this man?" They answered, and said unto him, "If he were not an evil doer, we would not have delivered him unto thee."read more.
Then said Pilate unto them, "Take ye him unto you, and judge him after your own law." Then the Jews said unto him, "It is not lawful for us to put any man to death." That the words of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his son Jesus, whom ye delivered and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had judged him to be loosed:

Then said Jesus, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

But they heard only, that he which persecuted us in time past, now preacheth the faith, which before he destroyed.

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, and desired of him letters to Damascus, to the synagogues: that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. But as he journeyed, it fortuned that he drew nigh to Damascus, and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven.read more.
And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?" And he said, "What art thou, Lord?" And the Lord said, "I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it shall be hard for thee to kick against the prick." And he, both trembling and astonished, said, "Lord what wilt thou have me to do?" And the Lord said unto him, "Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou shalt do."

and I persecuted this way unto the death: binding, and delivering into prison both men and women, as the chief priest doth bear me witness, and all the elders: of whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem for to be punished.

I also verily thought in myself, that I ought to do many contrary things, clean against the name of Jesus of Nazareth: which things I also did in Jerusalem. Where many of the saints shut I up in prison, and had received authority of the high priests: And when they were put to death I gave the sentence. "And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme: and was yet more mad upon them, and persecuted them even unto strange cities.

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his son: much more, seeing we are reconciled, we shall be preserved by his life.

For many walk - of whom I have told you often, and now tell you weeping - that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ,

Now joy I in my sufferings which I suffer, for you; and fulfill that which is behind of the passions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the congregation -

For he must reign till he have put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Thou shalt bruise them with a rod of iron, and break them in pieces like a potter's vessel."

Who shall endure in the day of his coming, or who shall stand to behold him? For he is as trying fire, and as the herb that fullers scour withal.

'The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand: till I make thine enemies thy footstool.'

{A Psalm of David} The LORD said unto my LORD, "Sit thou on my righthand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool."

For David is not ascended into heaven, but he said,

Wherefore God hath exalted him, and given him a name above all names: That in the name of Jesus should every knee bow, both of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under earth; and that all tongues should confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord unto the praise of God the father.

It is verily a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you, and to you which are troubled, rest with us; when the Lord Jesus shall show himself from heaven, with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, rendering vengeance unto them that know not God, and to them that obey not unto the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,read more.
which shall be punished with everlasting damnation, from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power, when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be made marvelous in all them that believe: because our testimony that we had unto you, was believed even the same day that we preached it.

Let no man deceive you by any means, for the Lord cometh not, except there come a departing first, and that that sinful man be opened, the son of perdition; which is an adversary, and is exalted above all that is called God, or that is worshipped: so that he shall sit as God in the temple of God, and show himself as God. Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?read more.
And now ye know what withholdeth: even that he might be uttered at his time. For the mystery of that iniquity doth he already work, which only looketh, till he be taken out of the way and then shall that wicked be uttered, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the appearance of his coming,

Unto which of the angels said he at any time, "Sit on my right hand till I make thine enemies thy footstool?"

and from henceforth tarrieth till his foes be made his footstool.
