A Summary Of The Covenant

³⁰ and that we will not give our daughters [as wives] to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons. ³¹ As for the peoples of the land who bring merchandise or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day; and we will give up raising crops during the seventh year [leaving the land uncultivated], and forgive every debt. ³² Also we pledge ourselves to contribute yearly one third of a shekel for the service [expenses] of the house of our God:

Exodus 20:10

Leviticus 23:3

‘For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation (calling together). You shall not do any work [on that day]; it is the Sabbath of the Lord wherever you may be.

Exodus 12:16

On the first day [of the feast] you shall have a holy and solemn assembly, and on the seventh day there shall be another holy and solemn assembly; no work of any kind shall be done on those days, except for the preparation of food which every person must eat—only that may be done by you.

Leviticus 16:29

Thus says the Lord, “Pay attention for your own good, [and for the sake of your future] do not carry any load on the Sabbath day or bring anything in through the gates of Jerusalem.
