Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God.
But he gives more grace. Wherefore he says, God sets himself against the proud, but gives grace to the lowly.
Do not say evil against one another, my brothers. He who says evil against his brother or makes himself his brother's judge, says evil against the law and is judging the law: and in judging the law you become, not a doer of the law but a judge.
Ye sentenced - ye murdered the Righteous one! Is he not arraying himself against you?

Therefore, since
who shall give an account to him, who holds himself ready to judge the living and the dead.
If you are denounced for the sake of Christ, you are blessed; for then the Spirit of glory and power, the Spirit of God himself, is resting on you.
Likewise ye younger, be subject to the elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against the proud, but to the humble gives grace.

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
This is the promise which He Himself promised us—eternal life.
