And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the gentiles also was shed out the gift of the holy ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a captain of the soldiers of Italy, a devout man, and one that feared God with all his household, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed God always. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon named also Peter. He lodgeth with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the seaside. He shall tell thee, what thou oughtest to do."

And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds, and was baptised, with all that belonged unto him, straightway. When he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and joyed that he with all his household believed on God.

Simeon told how God at the beginning did visit the gentiles, and received of them people unto his name.
