Conscience » A good conscience
Yet do it with courtesy and respect, keeping a good conscience, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame when they accuse you.
To do this you must hold firmly to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck in regard to the faith.
For our reason for confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity which are from God -- not by human wisdom but by the grace of God -- we conducted ourselves in the world, and all the more toward you.
This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" -- and I am the worst of them!
This is the reason I do my best to always have a clear conscience toward God and toward people.
I am telling the truth in Christ (I am not lying!), for my conscience assures me in the Holy Spirit --
holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.
For this finds God's favor, if because of conscience toward God someone endures hardships in suffering unjustly.

I punished them often in all the synagogues and tried to force them to blaspheme. Because I was so furiously enraged at them, I went to persecute them even in foreign cities. I have experienced help from God to this day, and so I stand testifying to both small and great, saying nothing except what the prophets and Moses said was going to happen: that the Christ was to suffer and be the first to rise from the dead, to proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles."
