These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb. Moses, therefore, called unto all Israel and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh and unto all his slaves and unto all his land, the great trials which thine eyes have seen, the signs and those great miracles. read more.
Yet the LORD has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear until today. And I have brought you forty years through the wilderness; your clothes are not waxed old upon you, and neither has thy shoe waxed old upon thy foot. Ye have never eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink that ye might know that I am the LORD your God. And when ye came unto this place, Sihon, the king of Heshbon, and Og, the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them; and we took their land and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh. Thou shalt keep, therefore, the words of this covenant and do them that ye may understand all that ye do. Ye stand today, all of you, before the LORD your God, your princes of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel, your little ones, your wives, and thy strangers that dwell within thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water, that thou may enter into covenant with the LORD thy God and into his oath, which the LORD thy God makes with thee today, to confirm thee today as his people and that he may be unto thee as God, as he has said unto thee, and as he has sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath, but with those that stand here with us today before the LORD our God and also with those that are not here with us today.

And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel: Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will give ear to hearken unto my voice and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a special treasure unto me above all peoples; for all the earth is mine. read more.
And ye shall be my kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel. Then Moses came and called for the elders of the people and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. And all the people answered together and said, All that the LORD has spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

Today the LORD thy God has commanded thee to comply with these statutes and rights; take care, therefore, to keep and do them with all thine heart and with all thy soul. Thou hast lifted up the LORD today to be thy God and to walk in his ways and to keep his statutes and his commandments and his rights and to hearken unto his voice. And the LORD has lifted thee up this day to be his unique people, as he has promised thee, and that thou should keep all his commandments, read more.
and to make thee high above all the Gentiles which he has made, in praise, and in fame, and in glory; and that thou may be a holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he has spoken.

But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee, for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me that I should not reign over them.

And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorite, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.

There was nothing in the ark except the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD cut a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

There was nothing in the ark except the two tables which Moses put in it at Horeb, with which the LORD had cut a covenant with the sons of Israel when they came out of Egypt.

They made a calf in Horeb and worshipped the molten image.

The LORD our God spoke unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount;

And he arose and ate and drank and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb, the mount of God.

Now as Moses shepherded the sheep of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, he led the flock to the backside of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb, and thou shalt smite the rock, and water shall come out of it that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Then the sons of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments from Mount Horeb on.

(There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir unto Kadeshbarnea.)

The day that thou didst stand before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather the people together unto me, and I will make them hear my words that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth and that they may teach their sons.

Diligently guard, therefore, your souls, for ye saw no manner of likeness on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire,

The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.

These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

Remember ye the law of Moses my slave, which I commanded unto him in Horeb statutes and my rights over all Israel.

The chariots of God are two thousand, thousands of angels; the Lord is among them as in Sinai, in the sanctuary.

And when forty years were expired, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.

And he said, The LORD came from Sinai and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from Mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of holiness, at his right hand the law of fire for them.

This is he, who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the angel who spoke to him in the Mount Sinai and with our fathers, who received the oracles of life to give unto us;

The earth shook, the heavens also dropped their rain at the presence of God; even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

Diligently guard, therefore, your souls, for ye saw no manner of likeness on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire,

These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

Remember ye the law of Moses my slave, which I commanded unto him in Horeb statutes and my rights over all Israel.

These are the statutes and rights and laws, which the LORD established between him and the sons of Israel in Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

which the LORD commanded Moses in Mount Sinai in the day that he commanded the sons of Israel to offer their offerings unto the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai.

Thou didst come down upon Mount Sinai and didst speak with them from heaven and didst give them right judgments and true laws, good statutes and commandments,

And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel: Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you unto myself. And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, I come unto thee in a thick cloud that the people may hear when I speak with thee and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes and be ready for the third day; for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai. And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves that ye go not up into the mount or touch the border of it; whoever touches the mount shall surely die: Not a hand shall touch it, but that he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live. When the jubilee sounds long, they shall come up to the mount. And Moses went down from the mount unto the people and sanctified the people, and they washed their clothes. And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day; come not at your women. And it came to pass on the third day when the morning came, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mount and the voice of the shofar exceeding loud, so that all the people that were in the camp trembled. And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the lower part of the mount. And all Mount Sinai smoked because the LORD had descended upon it in fire, and its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And the voice of the shofar sounded long and waxed louder and louder; Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice. And the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mount, and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount, and Moses went up. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people lest they break through the bounds to gaze upon the LORD, and many of them perish. And also let the priests who come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves lest the LORD break forth upon them. And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai; for thou hast charged us, saying, Set bounds about the mount and sanctify it. And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou and Aaron with thee, but let not the priests and the people break through the bounds to come up unto the LORD lest he break forth upon them. So Moses went down unto the people and spoke unto them.

Then the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount and wait there, and I will give thee tables of stone and the law and commandments which I have written to teach them. And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua, and Moses went up into the mount of God. And he said unto the elders, wait here for us until we come again unto you; and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you; if anyone has any matters to settle, let him come unto them. read more.
Then Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. And the glory of the LORD abode upon Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days, and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the sons of Israel. And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mount, and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

And Moses turned and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand; the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

And be ready for tomorrow and come up in the morning unto Mount Sinai and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount. And no man shall come up with thee; neither let anyone be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the sheep nor the cows feed before the mount. And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and Moses rose up early in the morning and went up unto Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

And the LORD spoke unto Moses in Mount Sinai, saying,

These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the sons of Israel in Mount Sinai.

These also are the generations of Aaron and of Moses in the day that the LORD spoke with Moses in Mount Sinai.

For what is all flesh that it should hear the voice of the living God that speaks out of the midst of the fire, as we heard, and live?
