And David swore moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knows that I have found grace in thine eyes, and he saith in himself, Let Jonathan not know this lest he be grieved; but truly as the LORD lives and as thy soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.
My heart pants, my strength fails me; as for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me.
For he remembered that they were but flesh: a wind that passes away and does not come again.
For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

Surely the sons of Adam are vanity, and the sons of nobles are a lie; to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
Cease from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what is he to be accounted of?
Thus hath the LORD said; Cursed be the man that trusts in man and makes flesh his arm and whose heart departs from the LORD.
It is better to wait upon the LORD than to wait upon man.
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man in whom there is no salvation. His spirit shall go forth, he shall return to his earth; in that very day all his thoughts shall perish.
