Presently some of the Pharisees came up to him, and made test of him by asking, "Is it right for a man to divorce his wife for every cause?"

Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might ensnare him during conversation.

And the Pharisees came out and began to question him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, by way of testing him.

But they sent some of the Pharisees to Jesus afterward, and some of the Herodians to entrap him in conversation.

So they watched him, and sent spies who pretended to be honest men, in order to seize on his speech, and to deliver him up to authority and jurisdiction of the governor.



Presently some Pharisees came up and tested him, by asking if it was lawful for a man to divorce his wife.

Now there was a woman who was in the city, a sinner and when she knew that that Jesus was reclining at meat in the Pharisees house, she brought an alabaster vase of perfume, and standing behind, at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and to wipe them with her hair, while she tenderly kissed his feet, and poured the perfume over them. When he noticed this the Pharisee, who had invited him, said to himself, "If this man were really a prophet he would have perceived who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, and would know that she is a sinner." read more.
Jesus then spoke to him. "Simon, I have a word to say to you." "Rabbi, say on," he replied. "There were once to men," said Jesus, "in debt to one money-lender. One owed him fifty pounds; the other five. "When they had nothing pay he forgave them with such charm. "Tell me, then, which of these will love him most?" "I take it," said Simon, "the one he forgave the most." "You have rightly judged." answered Jesus, and turning to the woman, he said to Simon. "Do you see this woman? When I came into your house you gave me no water for my feet; but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. "You gave me no kiss; but she, since she came in, has never ceased tenderly kissing my feet; "you never anointed my head with oil; but she has anointed my feet with my feet with perfume. "This is why I tell you that her sins, many as they are, are forgiven, for her love is great; but he who is forgiven little, loves but little. "Your sins are forgiven," he said to her.

"There is no disciple who is above his master; But every one when he is completely trained will be like his master. "And why do you look at the splinter that is in your brother's eye, but never consider the beam that is in your own eye? "Or how can you say to your brother. "Brother, allow me to pull that splinter out of your eye," when you do not see the beam in your own eye? Hypocrite! Take out first the beam from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the splinter from your brother's eye.

But you the abstainer, why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you again the non-abstainer, why do you despise yours? For we shall all stand before the judgment-seat of God. Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At dawn, however, he came back to the Temple, where the people came to him in crowds. He had taken his seat and was teaching them, when the Scribes and Pharisees had brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery.
