Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Cesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

But Herod the tetrarch being reproved by him concerning Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, and concerning all the evils which Herod had done, Added also this above all,

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch, certain prophets and teachers, Barnabas, and Simeon called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene and Manaen, who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him. And he was perplexed,

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the fame of Jesus, And said to his servants, This is John the Baptist:

For Herod had apprehended John, and bound him and put him in prison, for Herodias sake, his brother Philip's wife.

And king Herod heard (for his name was spread abroad) and he said, John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore divine powers exert themselves in him.

And he charged them, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herod.

The same day came certain of the Pharisees, saying to him, Go out and depart from hence; for Herod is minded to kill thee.

And when he knew, that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also in Jerusalem at that time.

And Herod, having with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a splendid robe, sent him back to Pilate.

And a convenient day being come, when Herod on his birth-day made a feast, for his lords, captains, and principal men of Galilee:

Pilate hearing of Galilee asked, If the man was a Galilean? And when he knew, that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also in Jerusalem at that time.

For of a truth, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed,

Pilate hearing of Galilee asked, If the man was a Galilean? And when he knew, that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also in Jerusalem at that time. And Herod seeing Jesus was exceeding glad; for he had been long desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by him. read more.
And he questioned him in many words, but he answered him nothing. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. And Herod, having with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a splendid robe, sent him back to Pilate. And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

Nor yet Herod; for I sent you to him; and lo, he hath done nothing worthy of death.

And having bound him, they led him away and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governour.

And straightway in the morning the chief priests consulted with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, and having bound Jesus, carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

And the whole multitude of them arose and led him to Pilate. And they accused him saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, saying, that he himself is Christ a king. And Pilate asked him saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? read more.
And he answering him said, Thou sayest. Then said Pilate to the chief priests and the multitude, I find no fault in this man. But they were the more violent saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching through all Judea, beginning from Galilee, to this place. Pilate hearing of Galilee asked, If the man was a Galilean? And when he knew, that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also in Jerusalem at that time.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor's palace, and it was early: and they went not into the palace themselves, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover. Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, What accusation do ye bring against this man?

And Herod seeing Jesus was exceeding glad; for he had been long desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by him. read more.

And Pilate having called together the chief priests, and the rulers, and the people, Said to them, Ye have brought this man to me, as perverting the people; and behold, I having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man, touching the things whereof ye accuse him. Nor yet Herod; for I sent you to him; and lo, he hath done nothing worthy of death.
