for your adversary the devil, walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour:

But beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

And Jesus answering said, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many.

And he charged them, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herod.

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them who cause divisions and offences, contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them.

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, acquit yourselves like men; be strong.

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing; but the flesh is weak.

Couldest thou not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest ye enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

And he said to them, Take heed and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Then said he to the disciples, It is impossible but offences will come; but wo to him through whom they come. It were better for him that a mill-stone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother sin against thee, rebuke him, and if he repent, forgive him.

Therefore let him that standeth, take heed, lest he fall.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in any fault, ye who are spiritual restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

for if they escaped not who refused him that delivered the oracle on earth, much more shall not we, who turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

And we have the word of prophecy more confirmed, to which ye do well that ye take heed, as to a lamp that shone in a dark place, till the day should dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:

If any one be ever so religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

So the tongue also is a little member, yet boasteth great things. Behold how much matter a little fire kindleth. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: it is the tongue among the members which defileth the whole body and setteth on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire of hell. For every kind both of wild beasts and of birds, both of reptiles and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind.read more.
But the tongue can no man tame: it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

For he that loveth life and desireth to see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips, that they speak no guile:

And behold there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and religious, waiting for the Consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

Continue in prayer, and watch therein with thanksgiving: Withal, praying likewise for us, that God would open to us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ: for which I am also in bonds:

But the wise answered, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage; and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answering said, Verily I say to you, I know you not. Watch therefore; for ye know not the day nor the hour.

But of that day and hour knoweth no one, no, not the angels that are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take heed; watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the porter to watch.read more.

Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall in no wise pass away. But take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overloaded with gluttony, and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.read more.
For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore and pray always, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things which will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all children of the light and children of the day: we are not children of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep as the others, but let us awake and keep awake.read more.
For they that sleep, sleep in the night, and they that are drunken are drunken in the night. But let us who are of the day keep awake, having put on the breast-plate of faith and love, and for an helmet the hope of salvation.

(Behold I come as a thief. Happy is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.)

And be always ready to give an answer to every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear:

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise men, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every one.

Then cometh Jesus with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and in deep anguish. Then saith he to them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.read more.
And going a little farther, he fell on his face and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith to Peter, What! Could ye not watch with me one hour?

Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men; but especially to them who are of the houshold of faith.

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready for every good work:

And they bargained with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath, that they might accuse him.

But their lying in wait was known by Saul: and they guarded the gates day and night to kill him.

Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, which are ready to die; for I have not found thy works compleat before my God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast and repent. If thou watch not, I will come as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come upon thee.
