Only take heed to yourself, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes saw, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your children and your children's children;



Wake up, and keep the things that remain, which were about to die, for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God.


The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'

But if that evil servant should say in his heart, 'My lord is delayed,' and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards, the lord of that servant will come in a day when he does not expect it, and in an hour when he does not know it, read more.
and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.

But he answered, 'Truly I tell you, I do not know you.'

Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.




Watch therefore, for you do not know when the lord of the house is coming ?at evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning; lest coming suddenly he might find you sleeping.


"It is like a man, traveling to another country, having left his house, and given authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch.

I have set watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they shall never be silent, day or night. You who call on the LORD, take no rest,

"Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel: therefore hear the word from my mouth, and give them warning from me.








He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What, could you not watch with me for one hour?




Blessed are those servants, whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, that he will dress himself, and make them recline, and will come and serve them.

You are all children of light, and children of the day. We do not belong to the night, nor to darkness, so then let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober.






For those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.




"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.














"Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning. Be like people watching for their lord, when he returns from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.


I will stand at my watch, and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.


His watchmen are blind, they are all without knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they can't bark; dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber.
