Hear, my son, and receive my words, that the years of thy life may be many.
O give ear unto good counsel, and be content to be reformed; that thou mayest be wise here after.
They also which have been of an erroneous spirit shall come to understanding, and they that have been scornful shall learn doctrine."
"Behold, happy is the man whom God punisheth: therefore, despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
If any man have a son that is stubborn, and disobedient, that he will not hearken unto the voice of his father and voice of his mother, and they have taught him nurture, but he would not hearken unto them:
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD, neither faint when thou are rebuked of him. For whom the LORD loveth, him he chasteneth: and yet delighteth in him even as a father in his own son.
To take heed unto the chastening of nurture, is the way of life; but he that refuseth to be reformed, deceiveth himself.
And ye have forgotten the consolation which speaketh unto you, as unto children, "My son despise not the chastening of the Lord, neither faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth, him he chasteneth: yea, and he scourgeth every son that he receiveth." If ye shall endure chastening, God offereth himself unto you, as unto sons. What son is that whom the father chasteneth not?
And he went away a little apart, and fell flat on his face, and prayed, saying, "O my father, if it possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt."
And he said, "Abba father, all things are possible unto thee, take away this cup from me. Nevertheless, not that I will, but that thou wilt be done."
saying, "Father if thou wilt, withdraw this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will; But thine be fulfilled."
But Job said unto her, "Thou speakest like a foolish woman. Seeing we have received prosperity at the hand of God, wherefore should we not be content with adversity also?" In all these things, did not Job sin with his lips.
that I should fulfill thy will, O my God. I am content to do it; yea, thy law is within my heart."
The LORD God hath opened mine ear; therefore can I not say nay, nor withdraw myself.
For we know well that all things work for the best unto them that love God, which also are called of purpose.
