Listen, my child, and accept my words, so that the years of your life will be many.

My child, do not despise discipline from the Lord, and do not loathe his rebuke. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights.
The one who heeds instruction is on the way to life, but the one who rejects rebuke goes astray.
And have you forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons? "My son, do not scorn the Lord's discipline or give up when he corrects you. "For the Lord disciplines the one he loves and chastises every son he accepts." Endure your suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?
Going a little farther, he threw himself down with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me! Yet not what I will, but what you will."
He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."
"Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet not my will but yours be done."
But he replied, "You're talking like one of the godless women would do! Should we receive what is good from God, and not also receive what is evil?" In all this Job did not sin by what he said.
I want to do what pleases you, my God. Your law dominates my thoughts."
The sovereign Lord has spoken to me clearly; I have not rebelled, I have not turned back.
And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,
