promising them liberty, while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a man is subdued, by him is he also brought into slavery.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Every one that practises sin is the bondman of sin.

No temptation has taken you but such as is according to man's nature; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able to bear, but will with the temptation make the issue also, so that ye should be able to bear it.

He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in sunder.

All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

And besides, my son, be warned by them: of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

Ministers, in like manner, grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not seeking gain by base means,

not given to excesses from wine, not a striker, but mild, not addicted to contention, not fond of money,

But now I have written to you, if any one called brother be fornicator, or avaricious, or idolater, or abusive, or a drunkard, or rapacious, not to mix with him; with such a one not even to eat.

For the overseer must be free from all charge against him as God's steward; not headstrong, not passionate, not disorderly through wine, not a striker, not seeking gain by base means;

nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor abusive persons, nor the rapacious, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

In which ye also once walked when ye lived in these things.

and lead us not into temptation, but save us from evil.

I speak humanly on account of the weakness of your flesh. For even as ye have yielded your members in bondage to uncleanness and to lawlessness unto lawlessness, so now yield your members in bondage to righteousness unto holiness. For when ye were bondmen of sin ye were free from righteousness.

(for many walk of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and their glory in their shame, who mind earthly things:)

If therefore the Son shall set you free, ye shall be really free.
