For the overseer must be free from all charge against him as God's steward; not headstrong, not passionate, not disorderly through wine, not a striker, not seeking gain by base means;

shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising oversight, not by necessity, but willingly; not for base gain, but readily;
Behold, this third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be in laziness a charge; for I do not seek yours, but you; for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
nor seeking glory from men, neither from you nor from others, when we might have been a charge as Christ's apostles;
I testify before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, that thou keep these things without prejudice, doing nothing by favour.
but have been gentle in the midst of you, as a nurse would cherish her own children.
But I make no account of my life as dear to myself, so that I finish my course, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.
according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but in all boldness, as always, now also Christ shall be magnified in my body whether by life or by death. For for me to live is Christ, and to die gain;
Thou therefore, my child, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus.
But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest after having preached to others I should be myself rejected.
But thou, be sober in all things, bear evils, do the work of an evangelist, fill up the full measure of thy ministry.
constantly in my every supplication, making the supplication for you all with joy,
as it is righteous for me to think this as to you all, because ye have me in your hearts, and that both in my bonds and in the defence and confirmation of the glad tidings ye are all participators in my grace.
Thus, yearning over you, we had found our delight in having imparted to you not only the glad tidings of God, but our own lives also, because ye had become beloved of us.
Be imitators all together of me, brethren, and fix your eyes on those walking thus as you have us for a model;
not that we have not the right, but that we might give ourselves as an example to you, in order to your imitating us.
Let no one despise thy youth, but be a model of the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
