But he answering said, It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Then saith Jesus unto him, Avaunt Satan! for it is written, "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and to him only thou pay divine adoration."

But for this end obtained I mercy, that in me, the chief, Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern to those who should after believe in him unto eternal life.

saying, Father, if thou wilt, remove this cup from me! nevertheless, not my will, but thine, be done.

And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was in subjection to them: though his mother preserved all these sayings in her heart.
