Then David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, who chose me over thy father and over all his house to appoint me prince over the people of the LORD, over Israel; therefore, I will dance before the LORD.
Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I have chosen no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there, but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men; but my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I took away from before thee. He gives great deliverance to his king and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. I will also make his seed to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of the heavens.
For thus hath the LORD said: David shall never lack a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
The LORD has sworn truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body I will set upon thy throne. If thy sons will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their sons shall also sit upon thy throne for ever.
Therefore, now, LORD God of Israel, fulfill unto thy slave David, my father, what thou didst promise him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if thy sons keep their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me. And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be made firm, which thou didst speak unto thy slave David, my father.
Now, therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy slave David, my father, that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel, under the condition that thy sons keep their way, walking in my law, as thou hast walked before me. Now then, O LORD God of Israel, let thy word stand firm, which thou hast spoken unto thy slave David.
And if thou wilt walk before me as David, thy father walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, keeping my statutes and my rights, then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever as I spoke unto David, thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.
And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee and keep my statutes and my rights, I will confirm the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David, thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.
For if ye effectively obey this word, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house the kings seated by David upon his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, he and his slaves and his people. But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, said the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.
But if ye shall obstinately turn from following me, ye or your sons, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them, and this house, which I have sanctified unto my name, I will cast out of my sight, and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples; and at this house, which was high, any one that passes by it shall be astonished and shall hiss, and they shall say, Why has the LORD done thus unto this land and to this house?read more.
And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt and have taken hold upon other gods and have worshipped them and served them; for this the LORD has brought upon them all this evil.
But if ye turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods and worship them, I will pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, I will cast out of my presence, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all peoples. And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passes by it, so that they shall say, Why has the LORD done thus unto this land and unto this house?read more.
And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshipped them and served them; therefore, he has brought all this evil upon them.
Therefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Because this has been in thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee and will give it to thy slave. But I will not do it in thy days for David, thy father's sake, but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. However, I will not rend away all the kingdom, but will give one tribe to thy son for David, my slave's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.
But they did not hearken, nor incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels in the imagination of their evil heart and went backward, and not forward since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day. I have even sent unto you all my slaves, the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them; yet they did not hearken unto me, nor incline their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.
For thus hath the LORD said regarding the house of the king of Judah: Thou art Gilead unto me and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness and cities which are not inhabited. And I will appoint destroyers against thee, each one with his weapons, and they shall cut down thy choice cedars and cast them into the fire. And many Gentiles shall pass by this city, and each man shall say to his neighbour, Why has the LORD done thus unto this great city?read more.
Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God and worshipped other gods and served them.
Therefore thus hath the LORD said unto Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have no one to sit upon the throne of David; and his body shall be cast out in the day to the heat and in the night to the frost. And I will visit upon him and upon his seed and upon his slaves, their iniquity; and I will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the men of Judah all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they did not hearken.
However, the LORD would not destroy the house of David because of the covenant that he had made with David and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
Yet with all this, the LORD would not destroy Judah for David, his slave's sake, as he had promised him to give him always a light of his sons.
But I will not take any of his kingdom out of his hand, for I will make him prince all the days of his life for David, my slave's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes: But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes. And unto his son I will give one tribe, that David my slave may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name in her.
Nevertheless for David's sake, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him and to establish Jerusalem.
If his sons forsake my law and do not walk in my judgments, if they profane my statutes and do not keep my commandments, then I will visit their rebellion with the rod and their iniquity with stripes.read more.

Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength. Thy priests are clothed with righteousness, and thy merciful ones shout for joy. For the love of thy slave David, do not turn away thy face from thine anointed.

David therefore calls him Lord; how is he then his son?
blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
And the people that went before and that followed, cried out, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
But we were hoping that it was he who should redeem Israel, and beside all this, today is the third day since these things were done.
Then those that were come together asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne; he, seeing this before, spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, neither did his flesh see corruption.
And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said this, I will give you the sure mercies promised to David.
Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead, according to my gospel,
