My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,

All my enemies shall be ashamed; they shall be sorely troubled: they shall turn back and be ashamed suddenly.

They shall be ashamed and also confounded, all of them; all the makers of idols shall go forth ashamed.

Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul; let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

And when Moses saw that the people were naked (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies),

Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my life to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

But whosoever commits adultery with a woman has a fault in his heart; he that does it corrupts his own soul. A wound and dishonour shall he get, and his reproach shall never be wiped away.

And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was murdered, answered and said, I came into Gibeah of Benjamin with my concubine to pass the night there. And the men of Gibeah rose up against me and beset the house round about upon me by night and thought to have slain me, and they have forced my concubine in such a manner that she is dead. Then I took my concubine and cut her in pieces and sent her throughout all the country of the possession of Israel, for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.read more.
Behold, all ye sons of Israel; give here your advice and counsel.

And it came to pass one evening, that David arose from off his bed and walked upon the roof of the king's house, and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself, and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah, the Hittite? And David sent messengers and took her, and she came in unto him, and he lay with her. Then she purified herself from her uncleanness, and she returned unto her house.read more.
And the woman conceived and sent and told David and said, I am with child.

However, because by this deed, thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme; the son that is born unto thee shall surely die.

O Lord, the righteousness belongs unto thee, but unto us the confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near and that are far off through all the lands where thou hast driven them because of their rebellion with which they have rebelled against thee. O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

And she answered him, No, my brother, do not force me, for no such thing ought to be done in Israel. Do not commit this folly. And I, where shall I go with my reproach? And as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now, therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king, for he will not withhold me from thee. Howbeit, he would not hearken unto her voice, but, being stronger than she, forced her and lay with her.

Thou that makest thy boast of the law, with rebellion to the law doth thou dishonour God? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity; surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confound thyself because of all thy malice.

We are ashamed, because we have heard the reproach; confusion has covered our faces; for strangers are come against the sanctuaries of the LORD's house.

Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us; look, and behold our reproach. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
