And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate. Then the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.

And why have ye made us to come up out of Egypt to bring us in unto this evil place? It is not a place to plant seed or of figs or of vines or of pomegranates; there is not even any water to drink.

And the people spoke against God and against Moses, Why have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this light bread.

And they came unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half tribe of Manasseh unto the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying, Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD in that ye have built an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD? Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, for which there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD?read more.
And ye turn away this day from following the LORD; and it will be, seeing ye rebel today against the LORD, that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel.

And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread and a sword and hast enquired of God for him that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day? Then Ahimelech answered the king and said, And who is so faithful among all thy slaves as David, the king's son-in-law, who goes at thy bidding and is honourable in thy house? Did I begin to enquire of God for him today? Be it far from me; let not the king impute any thing unto his slave nor to all the house of my father, for thy slave knew nothing of all this, less or more.

Yet now, given that the flesh of our brethren is as our flesh and their sons as our sons, behold, we subject our sons and our daughters to slavery, and there are some of our daughters in bondage already; neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

But now that it is come upon thee, thou art grieved; it touches thee, and thou art troubled. Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the integrity of thy ways? Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the righteous cut off?

if thou wert pure and upright, surely now he would awake upon thee and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

if there is any iniquity in thy hand and thou dost put it far away and dost not consent that wickedness dwell in thy habitations, then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; thou shalt be strongly established and shalt not fear;

Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakens the hands of the men of war that remain in this city and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them; for this man does not seek the peace of this people, but the hurt.

How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me and from the words of my cry? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

But thou hast cast us off and put us to shame and doth not go forth with our armies. Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy, and we are spoiled by those who hate us. Thou hast given us over like sheep appointed for food and hast scattered us among the Gentiles.read more.
Thou hast sold thy people for nothing and dost not increase thy wealth by their price. Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to those that are round about us. Thou makest us a byword among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the people. My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me, for the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes by reason of the enemy and of the avenger. All this is come upon us; yet we have not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons and covered us with the shadow of death. If we have forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a strange god, shall not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart. Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, do not cast us off for ever. Why dost thou hide thy face and forget our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly cleaves unto the earth. Arise for our help and ransom us for thy mercies' sake.

O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us; thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it; heal its breaches, for it shakes. Thou hast showed thy people hard things; thou hast made us to drink the wine of shaking.

O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? Why does thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture? Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed, this Mount Zion, in which thou hast dwelt. Lift up thy feet unto the eternal desolations, unto every enemy who has done wickedly in the sanctuary.read more.
Thine enemies have roared in the midst of thy assemblies; they set up their own banners for signs. Renowned, as one on the way to heaven, he who lifted up axes upon the thick trees for the work of the sanctuary. But now they break down all the carved work thereof with axes and hammers. They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them at once; they have burned up all the meeting places of the people of God in the earth. For God is my King from of old, he who works saving health in the midst of the earth. Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength; thou didst break the heads of the dragons in the waters. Thou didst break the heads of leviathan in pieces and didst give him to be food to the people inhabiting the wilderness. Thou didst cleave the fountain and the river; thou didst dry up mighty rivers. The day is thine, the night also is thine; thou hast prepared the light and the sun. Thou hast set all the borders of the earth; thou hast made summer and winter. Remember this, that the enemy has spoken against the LORD and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name. O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the beasts; forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever. Have respect unto the covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of violence. O let not the oppressed return ashamed; the poor and destitute shall praise thy name. Arise, O God, plead thine own cause; remember how the foolish man reproaches thee daily. Forget not the voices of thine enemies; the tumult of those that rise up against thee increases continually.

O God, the Gentiles are come into thine inheritance; they have defiled the temple of thy holiness; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps. The dead bodies of thy slaves they have given to be food unto the fowls of the heavens, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth. They have shed their blood like water round about Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.read more.
We are reproached by our neighbours, scorned, and derided by those that are round about us. How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest thou, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

For finding fault with them, he said, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new testament with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,

Thou wilt say then unto me, Why does he become angry? For who shall resist his will?

Do not sue a man without cause, if he has done thee no harm.

Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.

As he clothed himself with the curse like as with his garment, and it entered into his bowels like water and like oil into his bones. Let it be unto him as the garment which covers him and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually. Let this be the reward from the LORD of those who spoke falsely against me and of those that speak evil against my soul.

Bear with the one who is sick in the faith, but not unto doubtful discernment. For one believes that he may eat all things; another, who is sick, eats vegetables. Let not him that eats despise him that does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him that eats; for God has raised him up.read more.
Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? By his own master he stands or falls; and if he falls, he shall be made to stand, for God is powerful to make him stand.

Peradventure did Achan, the son of Zerah, not commit a trespass in the anathema, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? And that man did not perish alone in his iniquity. Then the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel, The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knows and let Israel also know; if it is in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD (save us not this day) that we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD or if to offer thereon burnt offering or present or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it; likewise, if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, Peradventure tomorrow your children shall speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel? The LORD has put the Jordan for a border between us and you, O sons of Reuben and sons of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD, so shall your sons make our sons cease from fearing the LORD. Therefore we said, Let us now work to build us an altar, not for burnt offering nor for sacrifice, but that it may be a witness between us and you and our generations after us, to do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD. Therefore we said, that it shall be, if they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may reply, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings nor for sacrifices, but it is a witness between us and you. Let it never happen that we should rebel against the LORD or that we should turn today from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for presents, or for sacrifices, in addition to the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle. And when Phinehas the priest and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel who were with him, heard the words that the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the sons of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them. And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, said unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us because ye have not intended to trespass against the LORD. Now ye have delivered the sons of Israel from the wrath of the LORD. And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the sons of Reuben and from the sons of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the sons of Israel and brought them word again. And the thing pleased the sons of Israel; and the sons of Israel blessed God and did not speak again of going up against them in battle to destroy the land in which the sons of Reuben and Gad dwelt. And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad called the altar Ed; for it is a witness between us that the LORD is God.

Therefore if thy brother shall sin against thee, go and reprove him between thee and him alone; if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

Brethren, if any of you have erred from the truth, and someone should convert him; let that one know, that whosoever causes the sinner to convert from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.

And this I pray that your charity may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all perception, that ye may approve the best, that ye may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ,

And when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me and be thou perfect.

Keep back thy slave also from pride and arrogance; let them not have dominion over me; then I shall be perfect, and I shall be innocent of the great rebellion.

that ye may be blameless and innocent, children of God without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world,

that your hearts may be confirmed in holiness, irreprehensible before God, even our Father, for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

And the very God of peace sanctify you completely, that your spirit, soul, and body be preserved whole without reprehension for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
