Therefore take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of God which He has purchased with His own blood.
Feed the flock of God among you, taking the oversight, not by compulsion, but willingly; nor for base gain, but readily;
Yield to those leading you, and be submissive, for they watch for your souls, as those who must give account, that they may do it with joy and not with grief; for that is unprofitable for you.
And I exhort you, brothers, to watch those making divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned, and avoid them.
Then it behooves the overseer to be without reproach, husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, well-ordered, hospitable, apt at teaching,
And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
Hold on to yourself and to the doctrine; continue in them, for doing this you shall both save yourself and those who hear you.
nor as lording it over those allotted to you by God, but becoming examples to the flock.
And, brothers, we beseech you to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and who admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
Therefore receive him in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such in honor,
Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in Word and doctrine.
But I exhort you, brothers. You know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruit of Achaia, and they appointed themselves to ministry to the saints. See that you also submit to such ones, and to everyone working and laboring with me.
Even so, the Lord ordained those announcing the gospel to live from the gospel.
And remain in the same house, eating and drinking the things shared by them; for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Do not move from house to house.
But let him who is taught in the Word share with the one teaching in all good things.
For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle the ox treading out grain," and, "The laborer is worthy of his reward."
But I exhort you, brothers, for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ and for the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me,
And pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,
For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Pray for us; for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
Therefore receive him in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such in honor, because for the work of Christ he was near death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
and you did not despise my temptation in my flesh, nor did you spurn it. But you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.
Remember those leading you, who have spoken to you the Word of God, whose faith follow, considering the end of their conduct:
And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you fulfill it.
Then having gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, if prophecy, according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, in the ministry; or he who teaches, in the teaching; or he who exhorts, in the encouragement; or he who shares, in simplicity; or he who takes the lead, in diligence; or he who shows mercy, in cheerfulness.
But there are differences of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are differences of workings, but it is the same God working all things in all.read more.
But to each one is given the showing forth of the Spirit to our profit. For through the Spirit is given to one a word of wisdom; and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; and to another faith by the same Spirit; and to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; and to another workings of powers, to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; and to another kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues. But the one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing separately to each one as He desires.
For, brothers, you were called to liberty. Only do not use the liberty for an opening to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
in brotherly love to one another, loving fervently, having led one another in honor.
Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves another has fulfilled the Law.
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender feelings of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering, forbearing one another and forgiving yourselves, if anyone has a complaint against any. As Christ forgave you, so also you do. And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness.
And may the Lord make you to increase and abound in love toward one another and toward all, even as we also toward you,
Purifying your souls in the obedience of the truth through the Spirit to unfeigned love of the brothers, love one another fervently out of a pure heart,
And this is His commandment, that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love,
Let us not become glory-seeking, provoking one another, envying one another.
Likewise, younger ones, be subject to older ones, and all being subject to one another. Put on humility. For God resists proud ones, but He gives grace to the humble.
Now we exhort you, brothers, warn those who are unruly, comfort the faint-hearted, support the weak, be patient toward all.
Do not grudge against one another, brothers, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge stands before the door.
Therefore receive one another as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.
