Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for naught? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.

O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?

But now they that are younger than I, have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to set with the dogs of my flock.

Are there not mockers with me? and doth not my eye continue in their provocation?

Suffer me that I may speak; and after I have spoken, mock on.

And now I am their song, yes, I am their by-word.

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

All they that see me deride me: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

But in my adversity they rejoiced, and assembled themselves: yes, the abjects assembled themselves against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

Thou makest us a strife to our neighbors: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; With which thy enemies have reproached, O LORD; with which they have reproached the footsteps of thy anointed

The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet I have not declined from thy law.

O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.

I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

Others mocking, said, These men are full of new wine.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again concerning this matter.

And as he was thus speaking for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee insane.

And Jesus going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests, and to the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, And will deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he will rise again.

And they were in the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen to him, Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests, and to the scribes; and they will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles; And they will mock him, and will scourge him, and will spit upon him, and will kill him: and the third day he will rise again.

Then he took the twelve, and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spitted on; And they will scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he will rise again.

Then they spit in his face, and buffetted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, Saying, Prophesy to us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, Prophesy: and the servants struck him with the palms of their hands.

And the men that held Jesus, mocked him, and smote him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? And many other things blasphemously they spoke against him.

And Herod with his troops set him at naught, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered to him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews?read more.
And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and struck him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Pretorium; and they call together the whole band; And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!read more.
And they struck him on the head with a reed, and spit upon him, and bowing their knees, worshiped him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he is King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.read more.

Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace to the lowly.

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard. This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee. But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me. Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of its judges; if not, where, and who is he?

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whoever is deceived by it is not wise.

Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

Cast out the scorner, and contention shall end; yes, strife and reproach shall cease.

He that reproveth a scorner, getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go to the wise.

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit to you, I will make known to you my words. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;read more.
But ye have set at naught all my counsel, and rejected my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

Smite a scorner and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers.

A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy to him that understandeth.

Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favor.

The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and thrust out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,

In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

If thou art wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

He that mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker; and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity. Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

The eye that mocketh at its father, and despiseth to obey its mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

For the terrible one is brought to naught, and the scoffer is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:

This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts. The LORD will be terrible to them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
