And it chanced in an evening that David arose from his couch and walked upon the roof of the king's palace; and from the roof saw a very beautiful woman washing herself. And he sent to enquire what woman it should be.

I made a covenant with mine eyes, that I would not look upon a damsel.

"Ye have heard how it was said to them of old time, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery:' But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a wife lusting after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

But every man is tempted, drawn away, and enticed of his own concupiscence. Then when lust hath conceived, she bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.

For all that is in the world - as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of goods - are not of the father: but of the world.

Flee fornication. All sins that a man doth, are without the body. But he that is a fornicator, sinneth against his own body. Either, know ye not how that your bodies are the temple of the holy ghost, which is in you, whom he have of God, and how that ye are not your own? For ye are dearly bought. Therefore glorify ye God in your bodies and in your spirits, for they are God's.

O turn away mine eyes, lest they behold vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

There hath none other temptation taken you, such as followeth the nature of man. God is faithful, which shall not suffer you to be tempted above your strength: but shall in the midst of the temptation make a way to escape out.

Let wedlock be had in price in all points, and let the chamber be undefiled: for whore keepers and adulterers God will judge.

Put on the armour of God, that ye may stand steadfast against the crafty assaults of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood: but against rule, against power, and against worldly rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness for heavenly things. Hear me now therefore, O my son, and mark the words of my mouth. Let not thine heart wander in her ways, and be thou not deceived in her paths. and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness: but rather rebuke them. For it is shame even to name those things which are done of them in secret:

But whoso committeth adultery with a woman, he is a fool: and destroyeth his own soul. He getteth himself also shame and dishonour, such as shall never be put out.

And grieve not the holy spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Abstain from all suspicious things.
