And David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him; for the soul of all the people was embittered, every man because of his sons and because of his daughters; but David strengthened himself in Jehovah his God.
And Asa cried unto Jehovah his God, and said, Jehovah, it maketh no difference to thee to help, whether there be much or no power: help us, O Jehovah our God, for we rely on thee, and in thy name have we come against this multitude. Jehovah, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. And Jehovah smote the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and hast not relied on Jehovah thy God, therefore has the army of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hand.
Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice; in the morning will I address myself to thee, and will look up.
Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I will trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
Unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living ...! Wait for Jehovah; be strong and let thy heart take courage: yea, wait for Jehovah.
Commit thy way unto Jehovah, and rely upon him: he will bring it to pass;
But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And Jehovah will help them and deliver them: he will deliver them from the wicked, and save them; for they trust in him.
Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and he will sustain thee: he will never suffer the righteous to be moved.
In the day that I am afraid, I will confide in thee. In God will I praise his word, in God I put my confidence: I will not fear; what can flesh do unto me?
Answer me, O Jehovah; for thy loving-kindness is good: according to the abundance of thy tender mercies, turn toward me;
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden my right hand; Thou wilt guide me by thy counsel, and after the glory, thou wilt receive me. Whom have I in the heavens? and there is none upon earth I desire beside thee.
But Jehovah will be my high tower; and my God the rock of my refuge.
My soul waiteth for the Lord more than the watchers wait for the morning, more than the watchers for the morning.
Confide ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jah, Jehovah, is the rock of ages.
For I, Jehovah, thy God, hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
And he said to his disciples, For this cause I say unto you, Be not careful for life, what ye shall eat, nor for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than food, and the body than raiment. Consider the ravens, that they sow not nor reap; which have neither storehouse nor granary; and God feeds them. How much better are ye than the birds?read more.
But which of you by being careful can add to his stature one cubit? If therefore ye cannot do even what is least, why are ye careful about the rest? Consider the lilies how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I say unto you, Not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these. But if God thus clothe the grass, which to-day is in the field and to-morrow is cast into the oven, how much rather you, O ye of little faith?
Be careful about nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
Let your conversation be without love of money, satisfied with your present circumstances; for he has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee. So that, taking courage, we may say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid: what will man do unto me?
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the due time; having cast all your care upon him, for he cares about you.
