Think not that I have come to make the law or the prophets of no effect. I have not come to make them of no effect, but to give them their full efficiency. For verily I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one yod or one point shall in no way pass from the law till all be fulfilled.

But now, God's plan of justifying men without law is revealed, being attested by the law and the prophets; I repeat it, God's plan of justifying men through faith in Jesus Christ, which is for all, and on all that believe; for there is no difference;

But do you continue in the things which you have learned and well understood, knowing from whom you learned them, and that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise in order to salvation, through faith that is in Christ Jesus.

and count the long-suffering of our Lord, salvation, even as our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, has written to you; as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

I testify to every one that hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if any one add to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any one take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life, and from the holy city; which things are written in this book.

GOD, who in many parts and in many ways spoke in ancient times to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom, also, he made the ages;

Therefore, we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest we let them glide away. For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment, how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation? which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard him;read more.

See that you reject not him that speaks: for if they es caped not who rejected that earthly man who gave the oracles, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that is from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now he has promised, saying, Yet once more I will shake not the earth only, but also the heaven. And this prophecy, Yet once more, signifies the removing of the things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that the things which can not be shaken may remain.

of which I was made a minister according to the commission from God, which was given to me for you, that I might fully preach the word of God, the mystery which was concealed from the ages and the generations, but is now made manifest to his saints, to whom God would make known what is the glorious riches of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory,

Jesus said to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me.

And there is salvation in no other; nor, indeed, is there another name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved.

But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

who, being in the form of God, did not think it an act of robbery to be equal with God; but he divested himself by taking the form of a servant, and being made in the likeness of men: and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient even to death, the death, indeed, of the cross.

Since, then, the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also, in like manner, partook of the same, that, through his death, he might deprive of power him that has the power of death, that is, the devil;

whose unbelieving minds the god of this age has darkened, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine to them.

But when the Paraclete has come, whom I will send to you from my Father, the Spirit of the truth, which proceeds from the Father, he will testify of me;

We are of God: he that knows God, hears us: he that is not of God, does not hear us: by this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

This is he that came by water and by blood, Jesus the Christ; not by water only, but by water and by blood: and it is the Spirit that testifies, because the Spirit is truth.

He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches: To him that overcomes, I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one, for the good of all. For to one is given, by the Spirit, the word of wisdom; to another, the word of knowledge, by the same Spirit; to another, faith, by the same Spirit; to another, gifts of healing, by the same Spirit;read more.
to another, the working of mighty deeds; to another, prophecy; to another, the discerning of spirits; to another, different kinds of tongues; to another, the interpretation of tongues. But all these, the one and the same Spirit makes effectual, distributing to each, respectively, as he wills.

And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a rushing, violent wind, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting. Since, then, we have gifts which differ according to the grace that is given to us, whether we have the gift of prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;

And God has placed some in the church, first, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers; then mighty deeds; then gifts of healing; helps, governments, kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of mighty deeds? Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

Love never fails; but whether there be gifts of prophecy, they shall have an end; or tongues, they shall cease; or knowledge, it shall have an end. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; but when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part shall have an end.read more.

There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without meaning. If, then, I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be to him that speaks a barbarian; and he that speaks will be a barbarian to me. So, also, do you, since you greatly desire spiritual gifts, seek to excel to the building up of the church. For which reason, let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, the spirit which I have prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What, then, is it? I will pray with the spirit which is given to me, and I will pray with my understanding also. I will sing with the spirit that is given to me, and I will sing with my understanding also. Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit that is given to you, how will he that occupies the place of the unlearned man say Amen, when you give thanks, since he understands not what you say? For you give thanks well, but the other is not edified. I thank God that I speak in tongues more than you all. Yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may instruct others, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. Brethren, be not children in understanding: yet, in malice, be childlike; but, in understanding, be full-grown men. In the law it is written: Through men of other tongues and other lips will I speak to this people; and not even thus will they hear me, says the Lord. Therefore, tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to those who believe not: but prophecy is not for those who believe not, but for those who believe. If, then, the whole church come together into the same place, and all speak in tongues, and there come in unlearned men, or unbelievers, will they not say that you are mad? But if all prophesy, and there comes in an unbeliever, or an unlearned man, he is convinced by all, he is examined by all, and the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God, and report that God is really among you. What, then, is it, brethren? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has something to teach, has an unknown tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. If any speak in an unknown tongue, let two, or, at most, three, speak at each meeting, and in succession: and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church: but let him speak to himself, and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge: and if any thing be revealed to one who is sitting by, let the first be silent. For you can all prophesy, one by one, that all may learn, and all may be encouraged; and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets; for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.

And he himself gave some to be apostles, and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature; for by him were all things created, things in heaven and things in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or lordships, or principalities, or authorities; all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist:read more.
and he is the head of the body, the church: and he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in all things he might be preeminent; for it pleased the Father that all his fullness should dwell in him, and by him to reconcile all things to himself, having made peace by the blood of his cross; by him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Jesus cried, and said: He that believes on me, believes not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that sees me, sees him that sent me.

Jesus said to him: Have I been so long with you, and have you not known me, Philip? He that has seen me, has seen the Father; and how say you, Show us the Father?

by making known to us the mystery of his will according to his good purpose which he had before established in himself, for a dispensation at the fullness of the times, in order that he might bring together for himself all things in the Christ, both those which are in the heavens, and those which are on earth;

Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel, even the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was concealed during the times of the ages, but is now made manifest, and through the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, made known among all nations for the obedience of faith, to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be glory throughout the ages. but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, even that which had been hidden, which God predestined before the ages, for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for, had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory. But, as it is written: Eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and into the heart of man have not entered the things which God has prepared for them that love him.read more.
But God has revealed them to us through his Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

that by revelation was made known to me the mystery, (as I briefly wrote above, so that, when you read, you can see my understanding in the mystery of the Christ,) which, in other generations, was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;read more.

for it pleased the Father that all his fullness should dwell in him, and by him to reconcile all things to himself, having made peace by the blood of his cross; by him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
