The man departed and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole. And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he had done these things on the sabbath. But Jesus answered them, My father worketh until now, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath, but also said, that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God.

And as he passed on, he saw a man who had been blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Again the Pharisees also asked him, How he had received his sight? He said to them, He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and see. Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner, do such miracles?
