But Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, even wild birds have roosts, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."
By faith he made his temporary home in the land that God had promised him, although a land inhabited by others, living merely in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who were to share the promise with him.
These people all died victoriously as a result of their faith, although they did not receive the blessings promised; that is, because they really saw them in the far-off future and welcomed them, and so professed to be only foreigners and strangers here on earth.
Then Peter answered Him, "We have left everything we had and followed you. What then are we to get?"
But in reality they were aspiring for a better country, I mean, a heavenly one. This is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
For he was confidently looking forward to that city with the solid foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
And if you address as Father, Him who judges everyone impartially in accordance with what he does, you must live reverently all your fleeting stay on earth,
But we are citizens of the republic in heaven, from which we are eagerly waiting for our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
And if they had been cherishing the memory of the country they had left, they would have had an opportunity to go back.
so that you may prove to be blameless and spotless, faultless children of God in a crooked and perverted age, in which you shine as light-bearers in the world as you continue
I have given them your message, and the world has hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to it.
Dearly beloved, I beg you as aliens and exiles to keep on abstaining from the evil desires of your lower nature, because they are always at war with the soul.

So if you have been raised to life in fellowship with Christ, keep on seeking the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Practice occupying your minds with the things above, not with the things on earth;
So I tell you, stop worrying about your life, as to what you will have to eat or drink, or about your body, as to what you will have to wear. Is not life worth more than food and the body worth more than clothes?
For I know that if this earthly tent in which I live is taken down, I have a building in heaven which comes from God, a house not built by human hands but eternal. For in this one I am sighing, because I long to put on, like a robe, my heavenly body, my future home, and if I do put it on, I shall not find myself to be disembodied.read more.
For I who am still in my tent am sighing beneath my burdens, because I do not want it to be put off but to put on the other over it, so that my dying body may be absorbed in life. Now it is God Himself who has put the finishing touches on me for this change, because He has given me the Spirit as the first installment of future bliss. So I am always cheerful and confident, although I know that as long as I am at home in the body I am away from home and the Lord (for here I live by what I believe and not by what I see), and yet I am cheerful and confident, but really I prefer to be away from home in the body and to be at home with the Lord.
