Everything a person does seems pure in his own opinion, but the LORD weighs intentions.

Do not act out of selfish ambition or conceit, but with humility think of others as being better than yourselves.

Therefore, let no one judge you in matters of food and drink or with respect to a festival, a New Moon, or Sabbath days. Their ways always seem prosperous. Your judgments are on high, far away from them. They scoff at all their enemies.

Now the Pharisees, who love money, had been listening to all this and began to ridicule Jesus.

Some of the Pharisees who were near him overheard this and asked him, "We aren't blind, too, are we?" Jesus told them, "If you were blind, you would not have any sin. But now that you insist, "We see,' your sin still exists."

You say, "I am rich. I have become wealthy. I don't need anything." Yet you don't realize that you are miserable, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. Therefore, I advise you to buy from me gold purified in fire so you may be rich, white clothes to wear so your shameful nakedness won't show, and ointment to put on your eyes so you may see.
