Again the devil takes Him into an exceedingly high mountain, and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of the same, and said to Him; All these things will I give unto thee, If having fallen down thou mayest worship me: then Jesus says to him, Get behind me, Satan; for it has been written; Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth Him; and behold, the angels came to Him and continued to minister unto Him.
And immediately the Spirit casts Him out into the wilderness. And he was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels continued to minister unto Him.
And Jesus, full of the Holy Ghost, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, tempted by the devil forty days. And He ate nothing during those days; and they having been completed, He afterward hungered. And Jesus responding said to him; That it has been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And the devil having perfected every temptation, departed from Him for a season.
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
You are of your father the devil, and you wish to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stood not in the truth, because there was no truth in him. When he may speak a lie, he speaks of his own: because he is a liar, and the father of the same.

See, brethren, lest at some time there shall be in some one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in turning away from the living God:
For those being in harmony with depravity, do mind the things of depravity, and those in harmony with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit: for the mind of depravity is death: and the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. Therefore the mind of depravity is enmity toward God: for it is not subordinated to the law of God, for it is not able so to be.read more.

If thy hand or thy foot offends thee, cut them off and cast them from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into eternal fire. And if thine eye offend thee, cast it from thee: it is good for thee having one eye entering into life, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of the fire.
And if thy hand may offend thee, cut it off: it is good for thee to go into life maimed, rather than having two hands to go away into hell, into the fire that can not be quenched.
