I've had help from God to this day, and so I stand here to testify to both the powerful and the lowly alike, stating only what the prophets and Moses said would happen that the Messiah would suffer and be the first to rise from the dead and would bring light both to our people and to the gentiles."

Then, beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them all the passages of Scripture about himself.

You examine the Scriptures carefully because you suppose that in them you have eternal life. Yet they testify about me. But you are not willing to come to me to have life.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify about the light, so that all might believe because of him. John was not the light, but he came to testify about the light.

About this time, John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the Judean wilderness, "Repent, because the kingdom from heaven is near!" He was the one the prophet Isaiah was referring to when he said, "He is a voice calling out in the wilderness: "Prepare the way for the Lord! Make his paths straight!'"

A voice cries out: "In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; and in the desert a straight highway for our God.'

I am baptizing you with water as evidence of repentance, but the one who is coming after me is stronger than I am, and I am not worthy to carry his sandals. It is he who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand. He will clean up his threshing floor and gather his grain into the barn, but he will burn the chaff with inextinguishable fire."

He kept proclaiming, "The one who is coming after me is stronger than I am, and I am not worthy to bend down and untie his sandal straps. I baptized you with water, but it is he who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

Now the people were filled with expectation, and all of them were wondering if John was perhaps the Messiah. John replied to all of them, "I'm baptizing you with water, but one is coming who is more powerful than I, and I'm not worthy to untie his sandal straps. It is he who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand to clean up his threshing floor. With many other exhortations John continued to proclaim the good news to the people.

John told the truth about him when he cried out, "This is the person about whom I said, "The one who comes after me ranks higher than me, because he existed before me.'"

so they went to John and told him, "Rabbi, the man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan, the one about whom you testified look, he's baptizing, and everyone is going to him!" John replied, "No one can receive anything unless it has been given to them from heaven. You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, "I am not the Messiah, but I have been sent ahead of him.' read more.
It is the bridegroom who gets the bride, yet the bridegroom's friend, who merely stands by and listens for him, is overjoyed to hear the bridegroom's voice. That's why this joy of mine is now complete. He must become more important, but I must become less important."

You have sent messengers to John, and he has testified to the truth. I myself do not accept human testimony, but I am saying these things so that you may be saved. That man John was a lamp that burns and brightly shines, and for a while you were willing to rejoice in his light.

"When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father the Spirit of Truth, who comes from the Father he will testify on my behalf.

We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who keep on obeying him."

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

This man, Jesus the Messiah, is the one who came by water and blood not with water only, but with water and with blood. The Spirit is the one who verifies this, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three witnesses in heaven the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. And there are three witnesses on earth the Spirit, the water, and the blood and these three are one.read more.
If we accept human testimony, God's testimony is greater, because it is the testimony of God and because he has testified about his Son.

I'm testifying about myself, and the Father who sent me is testifying about me."

Then a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with him!"

Then a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with you!"

and the Holy Spirit descended on him, appearing in the form of a dove. Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "You are my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with you!"

He was still speaking when a bright cloud suddenly overshadowed them. A voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with him. Keep on listening to him!"

Then a cloud appeared and overshadowed them. A voice came out of the cloud and said, "This is my Son, whom I love. Keep on listening to him!"

Then a voice came out of the cloud and said, "This is my Son, whom I have chosen. Keep listening to him!"

Moreover, the Father who sent me has himself testified on my behalf. You have never heard his voice or seen what he looks like, nor do you have his word at work in you, because you do not believe in the one whom he sent.

"But I have a greater testimony than John's, because the actions that the Father has given me to complete the very actions that I am doing testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.

Jesus answered them, "Even though I'm testifying about myself, my testimony is valid because I know where I've come from and where I'm going. But you don't know where I come from or where I'm going.

You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right because that is what I am.

Believe me, I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe me because of what I've been doing.

Jesus answered them, "I have told you, but you don't believe it. The actions that I do in my Father's name testify on my behalf,

If I hadn't done among them the actions that no one else did, they wouldn't have any sin. But now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.

But you'll receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you'll be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Watch out for people who will hand you over to the local councils and whip you in their synagogues. You will be brought before governors and kings because of me, to testify to them and to unbelievers. When they hand you over, don't worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say, because in that hour what you are to say will be given to you. read more.
It won't be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

"But before all these things take place, people will arrest you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. It will give you an opportunity to testify.

So they called Peter and John back in and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered them, "You must decide whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God, for we cannot stop talking about what we've seen and heard."read more.
So they threatened Peter and John even more and then let them go. They couldn't find any way to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened,

Since many people have attempted to write an orderly account of the events that have transpired among us, just as they were passed down to us by those who had been eyewitnesses and servants of the word from the beginning,

You are witnesses of these things.

You will testify also, because you have been with me from the beginning.

who was one of the men associated with us all the time the Lord Jesus came and went among us, beginning when he was baptized by John until the day he was taken up from us. Therefore, someone like this must become a witness with us to his resurrection."

how will we escape if we neglect a salvation as great as this? It was first proclaimed by the Lord himself, and then it was confirmed to us by those who heard him,

Therefore, as a fellow elder, a witness of the Messiah's sufferings, and one who shares in the glory to be revealed, I appeal to the elders among you:

When we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, we did not follow any clever myths. Rather, we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

What existed from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we observed and touched with our own hands this is the Word of life!

Instead, exalt the Messiah" as Lord in your lives. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you to explain the hope you have. But do this gently and respectfully, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak evil of your good conduct in the Messiah will be ashamed of slandering you.

Therefore, never be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me, his prisoner. Instead, by God's power, join me in suffering for the sake of the gospel.
