'Servants' in the Bible

Ahab asked, "By whom will this be accomplished?" He answered, "This is what the Lord says, 'By the servants of the district governors.'" Ahab asked, "Who will launch the attack?" He answered, "You will."

So Ahab assembled the 232 servants of the district governors. After that he assembled all the Israelite army, numbering 7,000.

The servants of the district governors led the march. When Ben Hadad sent messengers, they reported back to him, "Men are marching out of Samaria."

They marched out of the city with the servants of the district governors in the lead and the army behind them.

The king of Israel said to his servants, "Surely you recognize that Ramoth Gilead belongs to us, though we are hesitant to reclaim it from the king of Syria."

The king sent a third captain and his fifty soldiers. This third captain went up and fell on his knees before Elijah. He begged for mercy, "Prophet, please have respect for my life and for the lives of these fifty servants of yours.

His servants approached and said to him, "O master, if the prophet had told you to do some difficult task, you would have been willing to do it. It seems you should be happy that he simply said, "Wash and you will be healed."

"If I have disregarded the right of my male servants or my female servants when they disputed with me,

The Lord rescues his servants; all who take shelter in him escape punishment.

The descendants of his servants will inherit it, and those who are loyal to him will live in it.

They have given the corpses of your servants to the birds of the sky; the flesh of your loyal followers to the beasts of the earth.

Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Before our very eyes may the shed blood of your servants be avenged among the nations!

Take note, O Lord, of the way your servants are taunted, and of how I must bear so many insults from people!

Turn back toward us, O Lord! How long must this suffering last? Have pity on your servants!
