'Shepherds' in the Bible

When all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds would roll the stone off the mouth of the well and water the sheep. Then they would put the stone back in its place over the well's mouth.

The men are shepherds; they take care of livestock. They have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.'

When some shepherds came and drove them away, Moses came up and defended them and then watered their flock.

They said, "An Egyptian man rescued us from the shepherds, and he actually drew water for us and watered the flock!"

I used you to smash shepherds and their flocks. I used you to smash farmers and their teams of oxen. I used you to smash governors and leaders."

"Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say to them -- to the shepherds: 'This is what the sovereign Lord says: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should not shepherds feed the flock?

Amos said: "The Lord comes roaring out of Zion; from Jerusalem he comes bellowing! The shepherds' pastures wilt; the summit of Carmel withers."

Your shepherds are sleeping, O king of Assyria! Your officers are slumbering! Your people are scattered like sheep on the mountains and there is no one to regather them!

The seacoast will be used as pasture lands by the shepherds and as pens for their flocks.

and all who heard it were astonished at what the shepherds said.

So the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen; everything was just as they had been told.
